A Home Base Location

The original lookout tower of Torre Fiore is strategically positioned high on the edge of what is now a cultivated valley for its commanding view of the hill town of Pisticci to the north, the Ionic Sea to the south, the mountains of Calabria to the west and the flat murgia of Puglia to the east. The year-round agriculture and benevolent climate gives distinct seasonal character to this area, which has endured invasions from the Greeks, the Normans, the Saracens and others. Originally home to an ancient people known as the Lucanii, the area became known as 'Magna Grecia”, a rich colony of Greece, which has left a lasting impression, along with traces of other Mediterranean occupations.

The site itself lies in the Southern portion of Basilicata, within driving distance to the Bari Palese International Airport, heavenly beaches on the Ionian Sea, as well as countless picturesque hilltowns, villages, cultivated landscapes and ruins from antiquity.
